A new writing group
Connection, stories, growth, and opportunities
I’m opening a new writing group to help you craft a personal story you can then submit to Chicken Soup for the Soul, an American company that publishes 10 anthologies every year.
Read on and see if this is something you’d like to join.
Why Submit a Story to Chicken Soup for the Soul
Chicken Soup for the Soul publishes collections of 101 true personal stories told from the heart.
In a podcast interview, Amy Newmark, the owner and editor-in-chief of the company, explained why you should submit yours.
Being published by Chicken Soup for the Soul is a great way for a writer to get started. Many successful writers started by being published in just one “Chicken Soup for the Soul” book. And what’s really cool is that bookstores—even chains like Barnes and Noble—will let you do a book signing for a “Chicken Soup for the Soul” book because you have one story in the book.
There are a few other bonuses (if your story gets published):
You’ll get $250.
You’ll have your full name, bio, and contact details in print, which might open new, exciting writing opportunities.
You’ll receive 10 free copies of the book your story appears in, so you’re done with Christmas and birthday presents for the year.
What Stories Can You Submit? (1,200 words max - No AI)
Right now, the editors are looking for stories about:
Funny moments
Couples/marriage
Dogs
Gratitude
Random acts of kindness
Miracles and messages from heaven
November/December holidays
Positive thinking
I’m sure you have at least one of these.
I’ve already started drafting a funny story about the first (and last) time I went surfing. I’ll be sharing it with you in the writing group I’m opening.
