Outlining a tiny book
I'd do it while writing, not before
I have little to say about outlining.
Why?
Because I don’t outline. 😅
I’ve tried it a few times but never found it helpful.
I prefer to start writing, organise and reorganise the content as it appears on the page, and then see the outline emerge as I get closer to the end.
This is how I’ve approached almost everything I’ve written since 2021, including a 15K-word master’s dissertation and my two little books.
The only time I spent lots of time outlining was when I wrote a short e-book for learners of English, but that was only because I was required to plan the text and follow a template provided by the publisher.
Other than that, I make no big plans.
Do you?
If you’d like to see how I outlined Tiny Book Author, here’s a 10-month-old video from my YouTube channel.
I hope this is helpful. 🤓

Thank you, Fabio. I truly appreciate the way you organized the sticky notes to keep the story flowing in a clear, logical order. It helped more than you probably realize.
A few years ago, I was in a serious car accident and suffered a stage-three concussion. During my recovery, my neurologist encouraged me to keep learning, and to begin writing again. He explained that writing and deliberately organizing my thoughts would help my brain heal and rebuild neural pathways.
Right now, I’m working on a small book. It’s a quiet step, but an important one. I’m hoping that through this process, I’ll regain not only my cognitive strength, but also my confidence, to write, to create, and to trust my voice again. 📚✍️👨💻📝
I do not outline either.
Usually, I have keywords here and there. And I choose to you them or modify them as I'm writing !
But I also like your mindmap idea from a few post ago.
